Vitamin C is a substance without which our body cannot function normally (in extreme deficiency, we could even die). Still, the body cannot create it on its own. We must therefore receive it from outside. The source of vitamin C is food or nutritional supplements.
The vitamin C deficiency disease is called scurvy. The symptoms are bleeding gums, tooth loss, and softening of the bones. If vitamin C is not provided, we will die. The disease was once mainly suffered by sailors. Legend says that Columbus sailors were cured of the disease by the citrus fruits they found when they discovered America.
So if we look at the symptoms of scurvy, we see why vitamin C is needed.
EFFECTS OF VITAMIN C
- supports the body’s defenses
- helps in wound healing
- cooperates in the construction of bones, teeth and cartilage
- its deficiency can cause an excessive craving for sweets
- it is an antioxidant (it therefore fights free radicals – these are formed during excessive stress or when a person is exposed to polluting or toxic substances)
- helps with various chemical processes in the body
Research into the effects of vitamin C is ongoing. It has been used during coronavirus treatment in New York, for example, to treat those infected. This vitamin is even administered by injection. All this suggests and it seems that vitamin C is needed and irreplaceable.
The biggest cons of standard forms of vitamins and other nutritional supplements, such as tablets, powders or beverages, are that the vast majority of the nutritional supplement is degraded in the digestive system. Only a tiny part of the amount stated on the nutritional supplement package reaches its location in our body.
In contrast to conventional forms, the liposomal form has up to 6 times higher absorption. To compare different forms:
capsules, tablets, powder form absorbability up to 20%
Vitamin C injected directly into a vein absorbability approximately 70%
liposomal form absorbability more than 90%
Vitamin C is contained in tiny bubbles (called liposomes, hence the name liposomal) and is made by a particular natural substance (lecithin) process. These mini bubbles protect vitamin C. Besides, they “communicate” with the walls of the intestines, so they quickly get into the blood and are delivered to the cells where needed. They also get along very well, so the cell very quickly receives a “special delivery,” Therefore, more than 90% of vitamin C gets where it is and is used accordingly. Besides, this form does not create any additional burden for the stomach.
